Jamming
Jamming
Join in at Water Sound this year, with a dedicated jamming tent, informal sessions across the site, and a programme of led jams to help more players get involved.
We’re keen to encourage even more jamming and informal sessions at Water Sound this year. To help make that happen, we’ve added a dedicated jamming tent, but you’re welcome to strike up a tune anywhere on site where there’s space and the moment feels right. Just be mindful that sessions shouldn’t interfere with people enjoying the music on stage.
We’ve also scheduled a series of led jams to help more people get involved. Come along, join in, and keep the picking going afterwards. This year’s led jams include:
Friday
- 21:00 – 21:40 Bluegrass jamming etiquette workshop with Jeri Foreman
Saturday
- 14:45 – 15:30 Blide Trust Jam
- 17:20 – 18:20 Orkney Blues Festival, with Laura Montgomery
- 20:00 – 20:45 Gypsy jazz, with Colin Black & Lluis Gomez
Sunday
- 14:40 – 15:40 Old-time, with Leila Dunn. Jeri Foreman, Ben Errington
- 18:20 – 19:20 Bluegrass, with Sociograss
Artist-At-Large

We’re trying something new this year with our first-ever Artist-At-Large. It’s a role borrowed from some of the American bluegrass festivals, and we’re delighted to have Jeri Foreman take it on. She’ll be based mainly in the jamming tent, but you might find her playing anywhere around the site.
If you spot her, stop for a chat about music, pick up a few hints and tips, or have a tune or song.
