Getting to Burray

Getting to Burray

Burray is easily reached via Orkney’s ferries, flights or causeways. Plan ahead for buses, flights, or ferries — the closest port is St Margaret’s Hope.

Once on the Orkney mainland, Burray is accessible by road via the Churchill Barriers.

If you’re travelling without a car, the Stagecoach X1 bus runs between St Margaret’s Hope and Stromness, with a stop in Burray village. While this is Orkney’s most frequent bus route, services are still limited — we recommend checking the latest timetables in advance.
