Volunteering

If you would like to volunteer please contact us, we will reply with more information and to discuss the roles available for volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered to work at the festival – we can’t run without you!

How can I help?

Please contact us and we will get back to you to discuss.

    FAQs

I’d like to volunteer as a festival steward – how can I let you know?

It’s really easy! Please submit the form and we’ll get in touch as soon as we’re able to offer specific roles, usually around 6-8 weeks before the festival.

What kinds of roles are available?

With Water Sound being a small, community-based festival we’d expect roles to involve a variety of tasks on each day including the running of the ticket desk, helping answer questions on site, car park attendants, merchandise sales, selling raffle tickets, setting up and clearing the venues, and even making sure there’s enough loo roll & hand sanitiser for everyone!

Can I watch those acts playing when I volunteer?

Due to the nature of the role, the majority of volunteers will be offering front of house services or will have public-facing roles for the majority of their time when stewarding. Because of this it’s unlikely that folks will be able to watch performances whilst volunteering, so if there are any performances you really want to see, we’d advise buying a ticket for the day you’d like to watch the artists and then volunteering for different days or times.

What kind of support is available for volunteers?

During the course of the weekend festival committee members will be on hand and will be available to help, guide or assist with any questions or queries whilst you are working. An induction session will be provided around 4-6 weeks before the Festival to help give you an idea of what to expect and the chance to ask any questions. These will be available either in person or online, with times and rotas being agreed with you in advance.

What are the benefits of volunteering as a steward?

When stewarding, you’ll be expected to take on a number of different roles during your time with us, and this could include several different tasks. We would ask volunteers to be committed to working for 3 hours on each day or days you have volunteered for. Volunteers will be provided with a festival day pass for the day they are working, or with a weekend pass if able to commit to 3 hours on each of two different days over the weekend. Free tea and coffee will also be available.
